Pakistan's Prime Minister departs for the US to attend the UN General Assembly

 

Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar left for New York on Sunday to represent Pakistan in the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), which will take place on September 22. According to reports, PM Kakar would attend the UN General Assembly as Pakistan's first-ever temporary prime minister. On Friday, Kakar is expected to address the UNGA.

The  caretaker prime minister will also attend a significant conference on climate change. Additionally, he is slated to meet with world leaders, engage with the media internationally, and go to well-known US think tanks. Caretaker Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani will accompany the prime minister on the trip.

The planned speakers at the event include about 145 heads of state and government, six vice presidents, four deputy prime ministers, and 38 ministers or chiefs of delegations.

Pakistan's Prime Minister, Muhammad Kakar, is set to address the General Assembly on the mobilization of finance for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). He will also keynote at a summit on financing for development, discussing private sector financing for development. The Pakistani envoy is expected to highlight the country's efforts to achieve SDGs.

Pakistan will also present its customary resolutions during the session, recognizing the right of Kashmiris to self-determination and criticizing
Islamophobia and the degradation of Islamic symbols in addition to its resolutions pertaining to disarmament.
